Catalogue of Curious Containers
Trinket and jewellery boxes made from fabric and hand or machine embroidery, can be completed to customers' requirements. Here is a selction of past and present examples.
Small jewellery box, 12cms diameter, in satin fabric with Italian quilting and hand embroidery. (See'Monograms' for close-up of the lid). Velvet lined, with hinged lid. (Sold)
Another jewellery box, 12cms diameter, in polyester silk with velvet lining. It has a pop-on/off lid and is decorated with embroidery, beading and fabric flowers. (Sold)
Small cube trinket box, made of painted vilene with applique lace with hand and machine embroidery and beading. (Sold)
'Treasure Chests' have been developed from an original idea by Janet Humphrey. They are all embellished with selections of dyed lace, fabric, hand and machine stitching, beads, sequins, buttons, or shisha mirrors so every one is different.
I make them in three different sizes; Small at approximately10.5 x 8.5 x 4.5 cms.; Medium are approximately15.5 x 13.5 x 8 cms.; Large ones approximately 21 x 16 x 10 cms. (Exact size depends on whether they have short or tall sides.

'The Brodgar Chest'
This chest measuring 15.5 x 13.5 x 8 cms features a midsummer sunrise at the Ring of Brodgar on the long panels and another part of the stone circle on the short side panels.
'The Burrian Chest'
The 'Burrian' chest is made using applique images of the Pictish eagle from a carved stone found at the Knowe of Burrian. The Ogham script on the main panels and the Pictish symbol on the side pabels are painted.
